Civ 5 complete edition1/14/2024 ![]() I wasn't quite sure what it was, so I got 2K to tell me this: If you don't own BNW, it's no freebies for you I'm afraid. The Conquest of the New World Deluxe Scenario is, in fact, a revamp of a game mode that was previously only available as part of the 'Spain & Inca Civilization and Scenario' DLC, but as well being embiggened will be a freebie to anyone who bought or buys the (rather good) Brave New World expansion pack. Said scenario is also a little bit Colonizationy (but only a little bit). The Cool Thing happening off the back of this new omnibus edition is a new and free Civ V scenario that's being given to existing and future Brave New World owners for no-pennies. Be braced for Civ V: Ultimate, Civ V: Director's Cut, Civ V: What They Couldn't Show Gandhi Doing In Cinemas, and Civ V: In A Different Box.īack to that shortly, however. Though if I've learned anything in this business, it's that there's any number of final-sounding suffixes left in the game names cupboard. The only thing BE has is its soundtrack, but Civ V's is pretty epic too, so it can't even score a point there. The release of Civilization V: The Complete Edition rather suggests we've reached end of the line for Firaxis' latest history-spanning strategy game, and thus can start drawing up our mental wishlists for Civ VI. I never did a single fist pump on getting a wonder in BE, but when beat an AI to that key wonder in Civ 5. Civ 5 has numerous wonders that are "must haves" throughout the game depending on your chosen path. Or you don't even realise they are a wonder. So terrible, that many of them are worse than normal buildings. But for the average gamer, the diversity in religion and social policies opens up so many ways to skin the cat.ģ) Wonders. ![]() I'm sure the uber power gamers with their 100 turn deity victories would disagree as they home in on the optimal solution for every path. Although there are a similar number of victory types, the paths to victory in Civ 5 are bewilderingly numerous. BE has a handful of characters, who look different, but lack personality and have no discernable difference in gameplay.Ģ) The paths to victory. Civ5 has a huge cast of differing characters, all with their own personalities that affect how they play each game. But the three that stand out for me right now areġ) The leaders. I see now why it is (still) such a popular game.īE, which is based off the exact same engine, and uses exactly the same interface, just can't touch it, and there are many, many reasons for this. Having made my decision, got Civ5 CE, and put 100 hours into it already, having put in ~120 hours previously on BE, it's incredible really.Ĭiv 5, with all the DLC, is an excellent game. I'm asking the same question in the Civ V forum, just to see how much of difference of opinion there is, if at all.ĮDIT: dammit, forgot to add poll! Anyway, there's a poll in the Civ V forum. I don't have much time for games these days (and Mrs Suribachi questions every penny I spend haha ), so just curious on the communities thoughts - does Rising Tide make BE into the game we all wanted, or is Civ V Complete Edition too good to pass on? The full game is expensive on Steam, but only £11 on Amazon for the Complete Edition. Watching some of the videos about Civ6 on youtube made me fire up the old Civ V demo in Steam, and because its mechanics are so similar to BE, I was able to get into it this time. I keep trying to get into it, and just can't, it tantalises me with its potential, but it just doesn't quite deliver and leaves me pining for the atmosphere of SMAC. I did get BE, and was massively disappointed. I never really got into Civ V - tried the demo, didn't really like it, so never bought the game and went back to Civ IV. So, with the announcement of Civ 6, I've found myself drawn back to the franchise again.
